BIRGUNJ: Goods and commodities worth Rs 438.21 billion were imported through the Birgunj customs point during the first six months of current fiscal year 2025/26.
The total imports for the review period are 15.3% higher compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year, officials said. Total imports were Rs 380.6 billion in the previous fiscal year.
The information officer of the Birgunj Customs Office, Udaya Singh Bista, said there had been impressive growth in imports through the Birgunj point over the past six months.
Over the past six months, petroleum products worth Rs 90.6 billion and iron and iron goods worth Rs 39.3 billion were imported through the Birgunj customs point.
Other major imports included machinery and automotive parts, soybean oil, and electrical machinery and appliances.
