KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell 1.53% to close at 2,726.51 today as market turnover stood at Rs 14.17 billion.
The index dropped by 42.58 points, with total turnover reaching Rs 14,167,179,442.72. A total of 30,262,710 shares of 333 companies changed hands in 142,476 transactions.
Market breadth showed broad selling pressure, with 34 scrips advancing, 224 declining and two remaining unchanged.
Top gainers included Saptakoshi Development Bank (SAPDBL), which rose 8.56% to Rs 990.00; Daramkhola Hydro Energy (DHEL), up 8.41% to Rs 851.00; and Maya Khola Hydropower Company (MKHC), up 8.36% to Rs 376.00. Leading losers were Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals (OMPL), down 6.92% to Rs 1,438.00, and Jhapa Energy (JHAPA), down 6.25% to Rs 1,545.00.
Radhi Bidyut Company (RADHI) topped the turnover chart with Rs 578,516,077.10, followed by SY Panel Nepal (SYPNL) with Rs 576,838,791.90 and Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company (AKJCL) with Rs 514,367,844.90.
Most sectoral sub‑indices closed in the red. The Finance Index posted the steepest fall of 2.42%, followed by Others (1.97%), Life Insurance (1.85%) and Hotels and Tourism (1.81%). The Mutual Fund sub‑index remained unchanged.
The Sensitive Index fell 7.37 points, or 1.56%, to 464.46, while the Float Index and Sensitive Float Index also ended lower.
