BEIJING: Major stock market indices worldwide were mixed on Friday.

In Asia, the Shanghai Composite Index opened at 4,131.99 points, down 25.99 points, or 0.63%. The Shenzhen Component Index opened at 14,214.14 points, down 85.94 points, or 0.60%. The Hang Seng Index opened at 27,785.98 points, down 182.11 points, or 0.65%. The S&P/ASX 200 index opened at 8,910.70 points, down 16.80 points, or 0.19%. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average opened at 53,434.73 points, up 59.13 points, or 0.11%. The Straits Times Index opened at 4,933.88 points, up 3.85 points, or 0.08%. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index opened at 5,210.35 points, down 10.90 points, or 0.21%.

In the United States, the S&P 500 Index closed at 6,969.01 points, down 9.02 points, or 0.13%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 49,071.56 points, up 55.96 points, or 0.11%. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 23,685.12 points, down 172.33 points, or 0.72%.

In Europe, the DAX Index closed at 24,309.46 points, down 513.33 points, or 2.07%. The FTSE 100 Index closed at 10,171.76 points, up 17.33 points, or 0.17%. The Paris CAC 40 closed at 8,071.36 points, up 4.68 points, or 0.06%.
