BIRATNAGAR: Chamber of Industries Morang (CIM) marked its 58th establishment day on Monday in Biratnagar. The event showcased the programmes and initiatives it has been conducting since its founding in 2024 BS to protect and promote the rights and interests of manufacturing industries and businesses.

Speaking at the event, CIM President Nand Kishor Rathi said the 58-year journey had been “one filled with struggle, dedication, and continuous effort” and that even in changing times and challenging circumstances, CIM was moving forward by strengthening its institutional identity and trust.

He said it was the obligation of private sector organisations to develop entrepreneurial thinking in the next generation and that CIM was advancing its activities in line with this philosophy. “It is the need of the hour to convey the message that work can be done right here by demonstrating in practice the fact that opportunities are available within the country,” he added.

Rathi said CIM had been conducting various programmes related to industrial development, focusing on the development of the overall entrepreneurship ecosystem by starting work from the foundation level.

Recalling CIM’s past journey, past president Kishor K Pradhan said the organisation had established itself as a strong and credible private sector body owing to contributions from former leadership working “day and night”, and that past experience would guide the future generation.

On the occasion, CIM inaugurated the CIM Experience Zone, a modern exhibition hall with facilities to showcase regional industrial products, observe industries through virtual reality, and enable direct meetings between buyers and sellers. Past president Dinesh Golchha also formally launched the virtual B2B platform biratbazar.com, which CIM said will help market expansion by connecting domestic industries and businesses digitally.

Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Koshi Province President Rajendra Raut praised CIM’s role in developing the local economic and industrial ecosystem, saying the innovative practices started by CIM in promoting industry, business and entrepreneurship were exemplary for other organisations.

Biratnagar Metropolitan City Mayor Nagesh Koirala mentioned CIM’s 58th establishment day as a significant achievement and said the metropolis was ready to collaborate with CIM to strengthen the local economy through public-private partnership and to promote the industrial and business sector.

Likewise, CIM Senior Vice-President Bholeshwor Dulal said the private sector had succeeded in placing national economic issues on the national agenda through policy debate and advocacy based on facts and statistics, and that national and international honours received by CIM proved its course of action was correct.

The event featured displays of CIM’s work in developing entrepreneurial thinking, producing skilled manpower and promoting employment, including the Business at School initiative, Job Bridge portal, Skill Development Unit, Industry-Academia Linkage Programme, Business Clinic and Startup Programme. The programme was attended by past presidents, office bearers, executive committee members, women and youth entrepreneurs, industrialists, businesspersons and representatives of various associations and organisations.
