KATHMANDU: A new homegrown digital platform, Global Diary, is positioning itself as Nepal’s first AI-powered unified digital ecosystem. It promises to connect people, communities and businesses in a single verified environment and address long-standing gaps in the country’s online landscape.
Launched with roughly 350,000 registered users, Global Diary combines social features with business listings, job and freelance marketplaces, event discovery and verified local services. The developers said the integrated approach replaces the need for multiple apps and websites by offering digital identities, verified service discovery and tools for promotion and hiring in one place.
Global Diary’s feature set targets both individual users and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). For individuals, the platform enables creation of digital identities, discovery of verified services, access to job and freelance opportunities, promotion of skills and connection with local events. For businesses, the service offers a free digital presence, affordable promotion, direct customer reach, hiring support, brand building and a marketplace for selling goods and services.

The company has highlighted advanced artificial intelligence as a core differentiator. According to the release, AI powers personalised service and job recommendations, helps surface authentic local businesses and reduces spam and fake activity. The platform also emphasises data privacy, stating that user data will not be sold.
Backers said Global Diary can deliver broader benefits to Nepal’s economy and governance. The release notes potential impacts, including digital inclusion, support for local commerce, employment tracking, tourism promotion and the provision of verified data that could inform policy-making.
“Global Diary is not just another social media platform. Built in Nepal for Nepal, it empowers users to become creators, entrepreneurs, and opportunity holders. We invite all media, businesses, and citizens to join this shared digital movement,” the Global Diary team said in a statement.
The platform is targeting youth, students, job seekers, freelancers, entrepreneurs, SMEs, professionals, organisations and local service providers. Future plans include payment integration, stronger mobile applications, collaborations with government bodies, SME onboarding, rural digitisation and expanded employment and skill development services.
