Election Commission, Nepal Announces Nationwide TikTok Video Competition for Voter Awareness

Kathmandu: The Election Commission, Nepal has announced a nationwide TikTok video competition to promote voter education ahead of the March 5, 2026 House of Representatives elections.

Targeting young and first-time voters, the competition invites participants to create a one-minute video highlighting key topics such as voter rights and responsibilities, the importance of elections in a democracy, proper ballot-marking procedures, and compliance with the election code of conduct.

Participants must upload their videos to their personal social media accounts and submit them to the Commission by March 1. The entries will be evaluated by a joint panel of independent experts and Commission representatives.

To encourage wider participation, the Commission has announced cash prizes. The video receiving the highest number of viewers will win Rs 50,000, while the second and third place entries will receive Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. All winners will also be awarded certificates.

The Commission said the competition is part of its broader effort to use digital platforms to make election information more accessible and engaging for the public.
