Kathmandu: Ramada by Wyndham Itahari has been awarded the “Excellent” (Ati Uttam) Food Business Standardisation Certificate, the highest tier of food safety recognition granted to hospitality establishments in Nepal. The certification was conferred by the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control under the Government of Nepal.

The Ati Uttam classification is issued to businesses that meet stringent national benchmarks on food hygiene, preparation standards, storage systems and overall consumer safety compliance. Officials stated that the certification follows a detailed inspection and evaluation process conducted by the Food Technology and Quality Control Office in Biratnagar.

Operating under its registered parent company, Grand Central Hotel Pvt. Ltd., the hotel recently commenced operations in eastern Nepal. The property is owned by Desh Bandhu Basnet and managed by a team led by General Manager Abhimanyu Kayastha.

Management described the recognition as a significant milestone achieved within a short span of the hotel’s launch. In a statement, Mr Kayastha said the award affirms the team’s emphasis on maintaining high standards of food safety and quality assurance. He noted that the hotel remains committed to providing guests with a secure and premium dining experience alongside its accommodation services.

Strategically located in Itahari, a growing commercial gateway in eastern Nepal, the hotel features 81 rooms and suites catering to both corporate and leisure travellers. The property also offers multiple dining outlets, banquet halls, an open-air lawn, a swimming pool and a fitness centre.

Industry observers suggest that achieving the highest food safety certification at an early stage of operations may enhance the hotel’s standing within Nepal’s competitive hospitality sector, where regulatory compliance and hygiene standards are increasingly central to consumer confidence.
