Kathmandu: The Startup Network Nepal has partnered with Oorja World, a clean-energy company accelerated by Amazon Web Services (AWS) under its Top Energy Startups programme, to organise two major national technology events next month in the capital.
The collaboration will see the hosting of a two-day AI Hackathon on 15–16 March 2026, followed by Nepal’s first National AI Summit on 31 March 2026 in Kathmandu.
According to the organisers, the AI Hackathon will bring together students, software developers, researchers and early-stage entrepreneurs from across the country to develop practical artificial intelligence solutions. Focus areas will include energy, sustainability, healthcare, fintech, climate resilience and public services. Participants are expected to receive technical mentorship, access to cloud-based AI tools and an opportunity to present their projects to investors and industry representatives.
The National AI Summit later in the month will convene policymakers, technology leaders, startup founders, investors, academics and corporate representatives. The event aims to facilitate discussions around Nepal’s artificial intelligence roadmap, responsible adoption of emerging technologies and the country’s potential role in the regional AI landscape.
Organisers from both institutions stated that the partnership is intended to strengthen Nepal’s innovation ecosystem by connecting industry, academia and government stakeholders on a single platform.
