Kathmandu: The Startup Network Nepal organised a 24-hour AI Hackathon 2026 on 15 and 16 March, convening students, developers, researchers and early-stage founders to build practical artificial intelligence solutions across key sectors.
Held in collaboration with Oorja World at Embark College, the event focused on challenges in energy, healthcare and public services. Participants worked in multidisciplinary teams, supported by industry mentors and cloud-based AI tools.
The programme also featured keynote sessions and panel discussions with representatives from Visa, Tata Power and Meta, offering insights into AI and digital transformation.
Following final pitches and demonstrations, NagarikAPP was named overall winner for its scalable AI-driven solution targeting challenges in digital public services. The recognition places the team among emerging contributors to discussions at the upcoming AI Summit 2026.
Organisers said the hackathon highlighted the role of short, intensive programmes in fostering innovation, collaboration and locally relevant AI solutions within Nepal’s growing tech ecosystem.
