KATHMANDU: Provinces and local levels have proposed around 3,500 projects for equalisation and special grants from the federal government for the coming fiscal year 2026/27.
National Planning Commission (NPC) said local levels have proposed 3,358 projects and programmes, and the provinces have 140 projects and programmes for this purpose.
The NPC had asked the local levels and provinces to submit their proposals by February 12, 2026, for plans and programmes to be implemented under federal equalisation and special grants for the coming fiscal year.
NPC Assistant Spokesperson Diwakar Luintel said selection, cost estimation and analysis of the plans and programmes received at the Commission are underway. “A study on the budget ceiling and the necessity of the proposed plans and programmes, and on the details of required documents, is underway,” he added.
According to NPC, 2,820 new as well as 678 carry‑over plans and programmes have been proposed to receive grants under these headings for the coming fiscal year. Of the new plans and programmes, 1,464 have been proposed for special grants and 1,356 for equalisation grants.
Similarly, 220 plans and programmes for special grants and 458 for equalisation grants have been proposed as carry‑over plans and programmes, the NPC added.
