KATHMANDU: Newly elected members of the House of Representatives (HoR) are scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy today at 2:00 pm at the newly constructed multi-purpose hall in Singha Durbar.
The eldest member of the HoR, Arjun Narsingh KC of Nepali Congress, will administer the oath to fellow HoR members, the Federal Parliament Secretariat spokesperson Ekram Giri said. Earlier on Wednesday, President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to KC.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, 47 MPs have registered to take the oath in their mother tongue other than Nepali; of these, 17 are to take the oath in Maithili.
In the election of members of the HoR held on March 5, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) came first with 182 seats, while Nepali Congress stood second with 38; CPN (UML) won 25 seats, Nepali Communist Party won 17, the Shram Sankriti Party won seven, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) won five.
