Newly elected HoR members take oath of office and secrecy at Singha Durbar

KATHMANDU: Newly elected members of the House of Representatives (HoR) took the oath of office and secrecy today at the newly constructed multi-purpose hall in Singha Durbar.

The senior-most member of the HoR, Arjun Narsingh KC of Nepali Congress, administered the oath to fellow members during the ceremony.

President Ramchandra Paudel had earlier administered the oath of office and secrecy to KC on Wednesday.

Arrangements for taking the oath are specified in Articles 99 and 91(5) of the Constitution of Nepal and Clause 75 of the House of Representatives Member Election Act, 2074.

In the election of members of the House of Representatives held on March 5, Rastriya Swatantra Party won 182 seats, Nepali Congress won 38, CPN (UML) won 25, Nepali Communist Party won 17, Shram Sanskriti Party won seven, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) won five.
