Vice President Yadav inaugurates 9th International Women's Trade Expo

PATAN, LALITPUR: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav said the women entrepreneurs' trade fair would help make women self-dependent.

He made the remarks as he inaugurated the 9th International Women's Trade Expo 2026 in Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur, today.

Organised by the Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs' Associations of Nepal (FWEAN), the fair aims to promote and market products produced by women entrepreneurs and encourage district-level participation.

"Women's entrepreneurship plays the role of carrier of social transformation and national development. It contributes to the overall development of the family, society and nation when women show their capacity through enterprises. It also helps create employment, utilise local resources and build self-reliant economy," Vice President Yadav said.

He argued that women entrepreneurs are the driving force behind building a self-reliant, inclusive and sustainable society, and expressed the belief that such trade fairs help encourage district-level women entrepreneurs, take their products to market and strengthen the national economy.

FWEAN President Darshana Shrestha said the expo would help a national campaign for women entrepreneurship.

More than 5,700 women are now affiliated with the federation. The fair will run till April 5.
