BIRGUNJ, PARSA: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has said the government has accelerated reform work.
Speaking at a pre‑budget interaction organised by the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Minister Dr Wagle said the administration was working in the spirit of Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s drive for speed. “The Prime Minister has set a speed. The job is being initiated at the same speed. The entire federal government is working at that pace,” he said.
The minister said federal ministries were competing to improve performance and that he had sought to send a positive message to industrialists and businesspeople since taking office. He added that the grievances and complaints of the business community were being addressed.
Dr Wagle said some recommendations from a high‑level economic reforms report prepared under the leadership of former finance minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal were being implemented, and that the Revenue Investigation Department and five Acts deemed irrelevant and outdated had been scrapped. “This is a beginning. Further work will follow. We have no excuse for the pretensions of past coalition governments, so we have started doing good work,” he said.
