KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued an interim order directing academic institutions to accept new admissions in schools only after the start of the new academic session.

A single bench of Justice Balkrishna Dhakal made the order, instructing schools not to issue notices for new admissions while results of the annual examinations remain unpublished and the academic session has not commenced. In Nepal, the new academic session begins on Baishakh 2.

The court said there must be consistency between examination results, the academic session and certificates for admission. It has ordered the opponents to furnish a written response within 15 days and directed concerned stakeholders to act in accordance with existing laws.

The interim order requires that the student admission process begin only after the commencement of the new academic session.
