KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Senior Vice President Anjan Shrestha met Slovenia’s non-resident ambassador to Nepal, Tomaž Mencin, at the FNCCI Secretariat in Kathmandu on Monday.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to expand trade and investment between the two countries.

According to FNCCI, the meeting focused on promoting business-to-business (B2B) links, hosting trade visits and creating joint platforms to facilitate investment, with both officials emphasising the significant potential for deeper economic co-operation.

Speaking at the meeting, Shrestha said Slovenia is “a partner with high potential for economic cooperation” and expressed confidence in elevating bilateral relations. “Recently, many policy reforms have been made for foreign investment in Nepal. Currently, a stable majority government has been formed. The private sector is optimistic that policy stability will be maintained as a result. In this situation, relations can be expanded through business-to-business cooperation, trade visits, and joint platforms between the two countries, and FNCCI is ready for that,” he said.

He noted that Slovenians regard Nepal as “a beautiful country situated in the lap of the Himalayas” and enjoy visiting, and he highlighted potential cooperation in technology transfer, innovation and joint investment.

The meeting was also attended by Hari Bhakta Sharma, Honorary Consul-General of Slovenia to Nepal. Diplomatic relations between Nepal and Slovenia were established in 1997.
