Inland Revenue Office Janakpur collects Rs 3.97bn in nine months

JANAKPURDHAM: Inland Revenue Office Janakpur has collected Rs 3.977 billion in the first nine months of current fiscal year 2025/26.

This was collected against a target of Rs 4.338 billion for the same period, according to Anand Kumar Gupta, head of the office.

So far, the total includes Rs 1.149 billion from income tax, Rs 31.899 million from property tax, Rs 61.785 million from interest tax, Rs 819.420 million from VAT, Rs 1.889 billion from excise duties, Rs 310,000 from health service tax, Rs 1,000 from education tax and Rs 25.266 million from other sources.

Gupta said action has been initiated against 125 business firms that failed to report revenue on time; 10 firms paid Rs 43 million after notices of action were made public.

There are 166,652 taxpayers registered with the Inland Revenue Office.
