KATHMANDU: Rising air pollution as Nepal enters the dry season has prompted Black+Decker and its local partner CG Electronics to urge Nepalis to take precautions to protect indoor air quality.

Data released on April 23 show the air quality index (AQI) in major cities, including the Kathmandu Valley, has climbed to between 150 and 180, a range considered unhealthy for public health. In light of these readings, Black+Decker has highlighted the importance of protecting respiratory health by improving indoor air environments where people spend most of their time.

Black+Decker, a global brand under CG Electronics with manufacturing roots dating back to 1910 and a 116-year history, promoted its AP3560-B5 air purifier as a practical measure to reduce indoor exposure to harmful particles. The company said the unit employs a three-layer protection system designed to filter PM2.5 microparticles and other contaminants.

The three-layer system includes a True HEPA 13 filter that removes up to 99.97% of microparticles, allergens and bacteria; an activated carbon filter that absorbs smoke, outdoor odours and volatile organic compounds (VOCs); and a pre-filter that captures large dust particles and pet hair to extend the life of the main filter.

CG Electronics, which has been active in the Nepali electronics market for more than 40 years, said Black+Decker air purifiers are available across the country through 28 CG Digital and LG Shoppee showrooms, an authorised dealer network, and online at cgdigital.com.np. The company also noted that the products come with a 24-month warranty and are supported by a nationwide service network for after-sales care.

CG Electronics has urged residents to take necessary health precautions during this period of increasing air pollution and to keep indoor environments clean to reduce exposure to harmful airborne particles.
