COLOMBO: Sri Lanka's per capita income exceeded $5,000 for the first time in 2025, reaching $5,003, state media reported on Wednesday, citing the Central Bank's latest annual report.
The central bank said the economy grew by 5% in 2025, a marked improvement on recent years.
Gross domestic product rose to Sri Lankan Rs 32.75 trillion, about $105 billion, in 2025, up from Rs 30.1 trillion in 2024, the report showed.
Government revenue increased to 16.7% of GDP, the central bank data added.
