KATHMANDU: inDrive, the global mobility and delivery platform, has joined the World Economic Forum’s Unicorn Community, an invitation-only group of high-growth companies recognised for innovation and global impact.

The Unicorn Community, one of the Forum’s Innovator Communities, provides a platform for start-ups and scale-ups to engage with public- and private-sector leaders and to help shape solutions to current crises and future resilience. inDrive said membership will support its efforts to expand fair access to services and economic opportunities through a human-centred platform model that enables direct price negotiation and greater transparency in digital marketplaces. The company also highlighted its not-for-profit initiatives in women’s entrepreneurship, education and the arts as part of its contribution to the community.

Arsen Tomsky, founder and CEO of inDrive, said, "Joining the World Economic Forum’s Unicorn Community is an important milestone for inDrive as we continue to scale globally and increase our impact. Our mission has always been to challenge injustice by giving people more control over their choices. We look forward to contributing to the Forum’s dialogue on building more inclusive, transparent and equitable digital economies, especially across fast-growing and underserved markets."

Currently operating in 48 countries across more than 1,000 cities, inDrive is among the most downloaded mobility apps worldwide and a leading platform in emerging markets. Its peer-to-peer pricing model allows riders and drivers to agree directly on fares, a feature the company says increases access to mobility while supporting fairer earnings for service providers.

Locally, inDrive has been expanding across urban and semi-urban areas in Nepal, focusing on transparent pricing for driver-partners and affordable mobility options for users. Through its Unicorn Community membership, the company plans to bring perspectives from frontier and emerging markets such as Nepal into global discussions on urban mobility and economic inclusion.

Moreover, inDrive says the app has been downloaded more than 400 million times and offers services beyond ride-hailing, including intercity transport, delivery and financial services. The company has set a goal of positively impacting one billion people by 2030 through its core business and impact programmes.

The World Economic Forum is the international organisation for public-private cooperation, engaging political, business and other leaders to shape global, regional and industry agendas. The Forum’s Innovator Communities accompany promising start-ups and scale-ups along their growth journey and connect them with the Forum’s centres to help define the global agenda on critical issues.
