FNCCI announces final results of executive committee elections

KATHMANDU: The Election Committee of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) today announced the final results of its executive committee elections. The vote took place during FNCCI’s 60th annual general meeting (AGM) at the Nepal Academy, Kamaladi, on Tuesday. The committee made public the official list of winners today.

In the District and Municipal Chamber Group, Krishna Prasad Sharma of Siddharth Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rupandehi, was elected vice president with 87 votes. Dil Sundar Shrestha of Dhulikhel Chamber of Commerce and Industry secured the other vice presidential seat with 80 votes.

Fifteen members were elected in the open category of the District and Municipal Group. The successful candidates and their vote totals were: Prayas Karki 111; Arjun Kumar Shrestha 110; Deepak Nepal 110; Krishna Katuwal 105; Chhatradhar Atreya 104; Laxman Raj Paudel 104; Mohan Prasad Shrestha 102; Santosh Khadka 102; Keshav Prasad Bhandari 100; Gokul Shrestha 97; Hari Prasad Aryal 92; Tara Bahadur Karki 90; Shankar Giri 86; Ujjwal Prasad Kasaju 82; and Sudarshan Karki 81.

Two reserved female seats in the District and Municipal Group were won by Gita Amatya of Nuwakot Chamber of Commerce and Industry with 81 votes and Hira Bhattarai of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry with 63 votes.

Provincial representation in the District and Municipal Group returned two executive committee members from each province. Koshi Province elected Jivan Parajuli (Chamber of Commerce and Industry Itahari) with 16 votes and Ramesh Bishwokarma (Triyuga Chamber of Commerce and Industry) with 15 votes. Madhesh Province elected Bikash Kumar Sarda (District Chamber of Commerce and Industry Siraha, Lahan) with 9 votes and Amar Nath Shah (Siraha Chamber of Commerce and Industry) with 7 votes. Bagmati Province elected Sabin Shrestha (Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry) with 11 votes and Prakash Manandhar (Kavre Chamber of Commerce and Industry) with 10 votes. Gandaki Province elected Pavindra Kumar Shrestha (Tanahun Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and Subin Shrestha (Myagdi Chamber of Commerce and Industry), each with 9 votes. Lumbini Province elected Yagya Prasad Bhattarai (Kapilvastu Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and Bal Krishna Subedi (Rolpa Chamber of Commerce and Industry), each with 24 votes. In Karnali Province, Padam Bahadur Shahi of Surkhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Puri Chandra Devkota of Jumla Chamber of Commerce and Industry were both elected unopposed. Sudurpaschim Province elected Pitambar Joshi (Kanchanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry) with 10 votes, while the second seat resulted in a tie of 7 votes each between Dan Bahadur Surmeli (Bajhang Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and Padam Raj Chaulagai (Lamki Chuha Chamber of Commerce and Industry).

In the Commodity Group, Naresh Lal Shrestha of the Nepal Export Council was elected vice president with 63 votes, defeating Shiva Prasad Ghimire. While thirteen executive seats were available, the official list confirmed eleven winners. Notable winners included Araniko Rajbhandari 70; Bidur Dhamala 68; Sagar Dhakal 68; Raj Kumar Karki 63; Lilendra Prasad Pradhan 62; Pashupati Dev Pandey 62; Rabin Puri 53; Nani Raj Ghimire 52; Hom Prasad Ghimire 51; Sangharsha Bista 51; and Bhakta Bahadur Hamal (whose vote count was not specified). The remaining two seats are pending due to a four-way tie at 50 votes each among Nirajan Bahadur Chalaune, Raghunandan Maru, Viplav Adhikari, and Suraj Banjade. The Commodity Group female seat was won by Sunita Nhemhafuki of the Nepal Agricultural Machinery Entrepreneurs Association with 54 votes. Sunaina Ghimire of Computer Association Nepal Federation (11 votes) and Krishna Prasad Awal of the Federation of Nepal Brick Industries (9 votes) were elected to represent the Commodity Federation category.

In the Associate Member Group, Prabal Jung Pandey of Lomas Pharmaceuticals won the vice presidential seat with 1,079 votes; Jyotsna Shrestha Subba received 750 votes. Seventeen executive committee members were elected from the Associate Group. The successful candidates and their vote totals included Sachin Dhakal 1,318; Hemant Golchha 1,202; Ambika Prasad Paudel 1,183; Ujjwal Kumar Shrestha 1,156; Shakti Kumar Begani 1,142; Rishi Agrawal 1,122; Sushil Thapa 1,094; Rajesh Kumar Agrawal 1,082; Suyash Pyakurel 1,069; Babu Kaji Karki 1,006; Diwas Neupane 991; Krishna Lal Maharjan 974; Priyaraj Regmi 954; Ishwar Bahadur G.C. 949; Suraj Upreti 907; Batu Lamichhane 860; and Ram Sharan Bhandari (whose vote count was not specified). The two women’s seats in the Associate Group were won by Juna Mathema with 1,156 votes and Abhigya Malla with 1,059 votes.

Other results included Manoj Paudel of the Nepal Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry winning the single bi‑national chamber seat with 5 votes. Under the Founding Member Group, Gopal Shrestha of Sunsari Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dharan, and Suman Kumar Shrestha of Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry were each elected with 10 votes.

The election was conducted under the supervision of Chief Election Officer Lilamani Paudel, with election officers Suman Kumar KC and Chandramani Niraula overseeing the process.
