KATHMANDU: Everest Hospitality and Hotel (Kathmandu Marriott Hotel) on Wednesday inaugurated and handed over a new science laboratory to Shree Kamal Basic School in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, to strengthen the school’s science education through practical learning.
The laboratory was constructed with financial support from Kathmandu Marriott as part of the hotel’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the area.
School principal Dharma Devkota said the new facility will play a vital role in students’ education and help their development through hands-on experience.
Sarvagya Paudel, ward secretary for Kathmandu Metropolitan City-1, praised the hotel’s CSR work within the ward and expressed hope for continued support. “Kathmandu Marriott earlier established a computer lab in Nandiratri School, and has made several children’s parks. Now, they helped Shree Kamal Basic School with a science lab. I hope the school utilises resources like the science lab for the betterment of their students,” he said.
Representatives from Marriott attending the event pledged ongoing support for the community. Shashikanta Agrawal of Kathmandu Marriott, who chaired the ceremony, said the hotel will focus on providing employment opportunities and carrying out similar CSR activities in the future, noting Marriott’s ties to KMC-1.
“Without science, the growth of children is impossible. I hope this initiative will upgrade science education and students will benefit from it,” Agrawal said.
School officials and community leaders welcomed the contribution, saying the laboratory will provide students with improved access to scientific equipment and experiential learning that complements classroom teaching.
