Federal Parliament to begin budget session with joint sitting at 4 pm

KATHMANDU: Federal Parliament's budget session is set to commence at 4:00 pm today with a joint sitting, a notice issued by the Federal Parliament's General Secretary Padam Prasad Pandey said.

According to the agenda shared by the Federal Parliament Secretariat, President Ramchandra Paudel will table the government's policies and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27 at the joint meeting of both Houses. Members have been asked to be seated in the House of Representatives Chamber (Multipurpose Hall), Singha Durbar, before 3:45 pm, the notice said.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives and the National Assembly have commenced separate meetings at 2:00 pm. Among other business, various ordinances recently introduced by the government through the President will be presented for endorsement by the Houses.

Earlier today, a meeting of the Council of Ministers endorsed the President's address to the joint session. The Head of State is, in accordance with Article 95 of the Constitution, scheduled to address the joint sitting of the Houses, Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, said.

The Cabinet meeting was held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar.
