KATHMANDU: Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO) said the government's budget expenditure has reached about 60% of the annual allocation by the end of Baisakh (May 14) of the current fiscal year 2025/26.
The FCGO said Rs 1,173.52 billion has been spent in the past 10 months. The government presented a budget of Rs 1,964.11 billion for the current fiscal year, of which 59.75% has been spent so far, the FCGO said.
Out of an allocation of Rs 1,180.98 billion for the current fiscal year, 68.98% — Rs 814.66 billion — has been spent by May 14, the FCGO said.
Under the capital expenditure heading, Rs 407.89 billion was allocated, of which 27.91% — Rs 113.85 billion — has been spent. Overall budget expenditure in terms of fiscal management stands at 65.30%, the FCGO said.
For the recurrent heading, the government had allocated Rs 375.24 billion, of which Rs 245.02 billion has been spent so far, the FCGO said.
By mid-May, the government's revenue shrunk to 66% of the annual target. The target for the current fiscal year was to collect total revenue of Rs 1,533.45 billion, and Rs 1,012.05 billion has been collected so far, the FCGO said.
Using an alternate revenue target of Rs 1,480.00 billion, the government has collected Rs 988.05 billion in the past 10 months, equivalent to 66.69% of that target, the FCGO said.
For the current fiscal year, the government aimed to receive foreign aid of Rs 53.45 billion, and 33.28% of that target — Rs 17.79 billion — has been received so far.
