KATHMANDU: The annual report of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) for fiscal year 2024/25 was submitted to President Ramchandra Paudel at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Shital Niwas today.

Auditor General Toyam Raya presented the report to the President at a special ceremony at the presidential residence.

President Paudel expressed concern over increasing arrears and urged public bodies to maintain accountability, transparency and fiscal discipline. "The officials of the public bodies should be more accountable to move towards maintaining financial discipline by eliminating arrears," he said.

He said he was confident the country's aspirations for stability, peace, good governance, development and prosperity would be fulfilled if economic discipline was maintained by discouraging wasteful expenditure.

The President added he expected the contents of the report to prompt relevant bodies and stakeholders to be more accountable.

Paudel emphasised that while the Office of the Auditor General will play an important role in maintaining fiscal discipline, accountability and transparency and in reducing financial irregularities, the office should be more active in enhancing institutional capacity, professional interest and internal governance in the future.
