KATHMANDU: Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has said that westerly and local winds are causing rainfall in parts of Gandaki, Bagmati and Koshi provinces.
The MFD said a normal-to-full change in weather is expected this afternoon across the hilly and mountainous areas of the Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, while partial changes are likely in other regions. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are forecast for several districts in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
The MFD also indicated that rain or thundershowers may occur in the hilly areas of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, and in the Tarai of Koshi Province. A caution has been issued about the potential for hail in the Tarai regions of Madhes and Koshi Provinces.
Temperatures are expected to rise in some parts of Sudurpashchim and Lumbini provinces. Tonight, a general change in weather is forecast for the hilly and mountainous terrain of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, with partial changes in the hilly areas of Karnali and Madhes provinces.
The remaining hilly and low-lying areas are likely to remain mainly clear. The MFD urged residents and authorities in affected areas to take necessary precautions because of the possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds in parts of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and the Tarai region.
