KATHMANDU: Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has warned of generally cloudy skies across the Hilly and Himalayan regions today, while the Tarai is expected to remain partly cloudy.
MFD said moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is possible at several places in the Hilly and Himalayan areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces. Similar conditions may occur at a few places in the Tarai of Sudurpashchim and in the Hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. One or two places in the Tarai regions of Koshi and Lumbini could see isolated moderate precipitation.
Tonight, there will be generally cloudy conditions over the Himalayan region, partly cloudy skies in the Hilly region and mainly fair weather across the Tarai. There is a chance of light rainfall or snowfall at one or two places in the Hilly and Himalayan parts of Sudurpashchim and Karnali, and in the Himalayan zones of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini.
In its meteorological analysis, MFD said Nepal is under the influence of a westerly low‑pressure trough in the upper atmosphere, together with local wind effects.
Authorities and residents in affected Hilly and Himalayan districts are advised to be cautious of sudden heavy showers, lightning and reduced visibility in higher terrain, and to take necessary precautions when travelling or working outdoors.
