WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that Vice President JD Vance will attend the signing ceremony of an agreement between the United States and Iran, which is expected to take place in Europe early next week.
Speaking at the White House, Trump said the Strait of Hormuz would reopen once the agreement is signed, adding that the naval blockade would remain fully in place until the deal is finalised.
The president also revealed that he had cancelled planned military strikes against Iran after the final points of the agreement were approved.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said discussions with Iran had reached the highest levels of the Iranian leadership and received approval from all parties involved.
