LALITPUR: The Board of Airlines Representatives in Nepal (BARN) held its 30th and 31st annual general meeting (AGM) under the theme 'Resilient Skies, Shared Vision' in Godawari, Lalitpur, on Friday. Airline representatives operating in Nepal met to review the association’s activities, consider industry matters and approve financial reports.
Delegates elected the executive committee for the 2026–2028 term. The committee members are Anil Ghimire (Nepal Airlines Corporation) as chairman; Bhola Bikram Thapa (IndiGo) as first vice chairman; Abit Shrestha (AOC-N) as second vice chairman; Sarik Bogati (Qatar Airways) as general secretary; and Navaraj Shahi (Flydubai) as treasurer. Other members named were Serkan Basar (Turkish Airlines), Junu Maleku (Cathay Pacific), Dhiraj Chandra Shrestha (China Southern Airlines), Santosh Bikram Rana (Thai Airways), Tripti Chhetri (Malaysia Airlines), Ramesh Lamichhane (Emirates) and Basu Lamichhane (FITS Air).
The AGM included a presentation by Verteil Technologies on New Distribution Capability (NDC) solutions and the future of airline retailing, which highlighted emerging trends in airline distribution. BARN thanked Verteil Technologies and Soaltee Group of Companies for sponsoring the meeting and supporting the organisation of the event.
Established in 1990, the BARN is the umbrella association representing airlines operating in Nepal and works with aviation stakeholders to promote the sustainable development of the country’s aviation industry.
