KATHMANDU: Nepali mixed martial arts (MMA) athlete Koshish Shrestha is set to represent the IFL Delhi team in the upcoming International Fight League (IFL), India’s pioneering franchise-based MMA competition.

Modelled on successful Indian franchise formats, the IFL brings together fighters from across South Asia under city-based teams and aims to create a professional, commercially viable platform for mixed martial arts.

Shrestha, who holds a 1-0 professional record, is scheduled to fight for Delhi against Prachand Jamilya, who will represent the Mumbai franchise and has an impressive 14-4 amateur record. The Delhi–Mumbai clash is expected to be one of the event’s headline contests.

The International Fight League has secured global streaming through UFC Fight Pass and plans to stage six major events in 2026, which will raise the profile of MMA in the region and give athletes wider exposure.

Shrestha’s selection for the Delhi franchise marks growing recognition of Nepali fighters on the international stage and highlights Nepal’s emerging presence in professional combat sport.

As MMA’s popularity expands across South Asia, Shrestha’s appearance in the IFL offers an opportunity for Nepali talent to be seen by a global audience.
