Dr Gopal Bhatta appointed SEBON chair

KATHMANDU: The government has appointed Dr Gopal Prasad Bhatta as chairman of Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), the Cabinet decided at its meeting at Singha Durbar today, Minister for Information and Communication Dr Bikram Timilsina said.

The Cabinet agreed to allow the presentation in the Federal Parliament of a bill to bring into effect the provisions of the Nepal Special Service Act, 2042. A separate bill to amend and consolidate the laws relating to Rastriya Sewa Dal will also be presented to Parliament, Dr Timilsina said.

The government gave approval in principle for the formulation of a bill to amend and consolidate existing cooperative legislation to reform the cooperative sector. Approval was also granted to enact a separate law on Savings and Credit Cooperatives (Regulation and Supervision).

The Cabinet further decided to present a substitution bill in the Federal Parliament to amend several Nepalese Acts: the Cooperatives Act, 2074; the Public Procurement Act, 2063; the Anti‑Money Laundering Act, 2064; and the Academy of Health Sciences Act.
