Initiatives to run Shaktikhor Industrial Zone underway: Industry minister

BHARATPUR: The government has begun moving forward with activities to operationalise the Shaktikhor Industrial Zone in Chitwan, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gauri Kumari said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a programme organised by the Chitwan Association of Industries in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, the minister said initiatives are underway to run the industrial zone and that related activities will be advanced soon. She said the government will encourage industrialists and businesspeople to invest and create jobs, and added that power supply to industries found violating regulations has been cut off.

Gopal Prasad Gaire, vice president of the Chitwan Association of Industries, briefed the minister on the association’s projects and highlighted problems affecting the operation of the Shaktikhor Industrial Zone.

Entrepreneur Arjun Sapkota urged the government to provide discounts on raw materials for Nepali industries to help reduce production costs.

The construction of the Shaktikhor Industrial Zone has been estimated at around Rs 37 billion.
