KATHMANDU: Proton will launch its fully electric compact SUV, the e.MAS 5, in Nepal, in the coming months, the company said in a press release. The model won the 'Electric Compact Vehicle of the Year 2026' at Malaysia’s Allianz DSF Vehicle of the Year Awards.
Developed through Proton’s collaboration with Geely, the e.MAS 5 brings internationally tested electric vehicle technology to Nepali roads, Proton and its local distributor said. The model targets buyers seeking modern technology, smart features and everyday practicality in a compact SUV package.
The e.MAS 5 was recognised at the Allianz DSF awards for its contemporary design, electric powertrain, comfort and suitability for daily driving. The vehicle combines Geely’s EV systems with Proton’s engineering, according to the announcement.
Proton highlights several interior storage solutions intended to increase utility, including a 70-litre front trunk, a 28-litre under-seat compartment and a 20-litre space beneath the centre console.
Jagdamba Motors, which will handle the model’s introduction in Nepal, said the arrival of the e.MAS 5 strengthens Proton’s electric vehicle line-up available to Nepali customers and aims to offer safety, convenience and value.
The company said further details, including launch timing and pricing, will be announced ahead of the official market debut.
