KATHMANDU: National Statistics Office (NSO) has said the fourth Labour Force Survey is currently underway across the country.
The survey aims to determine the size of the workforce nationwide, employment status, types of labour and the overall condition of the labour market. It covers the working-age population.
NSO Deputy Chief Statistician and spokesperson Dhundi Raj Lamichhane said data collection has been underway for the past five months to assess seasonal fluctuations in employment and their impact. He said the survey is expected to conclude in February-March 2027.
The survey will collect comprehensive data to assess employment and unemployment across the country, the nature of labour, education and skill levels, and the prevalence of child labour, forced labour and hazardous work.
Enumerators have already visited about 18,000 households in all seven provinces.
Nepal conducted its first Labour Force Survey in 2055/56 BS, followed by the second in 2064/65 BS and the third in 2074/75 BS.
