Remittance inflows rise 38.2 pc to Rs 2.12tn in 11 months: NRB

KATHMANDU: Remittance inflows in the country increased 38.2% to Rs 2,120.80 billion in the first 11 months of fiscal year 2025/26, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) said in its macroeconomic and financial situation report released on Monday. This compares with a 15.6% rise in the same period of the previous year.

During mid‑May to mid‑June (Jestha month), remittance inflows stood at Rs 203.89 billion, up from Rs 176.32 billion in the same month a year earlier.

In US dollar terms, remittance inflows rose 29.6% to $14.59 billion in the review period, compared with a 12.8% increase in the same period of the previous year.

Net secondary income (net transfer) reached Rs 2,321.07 billion in the review period, up from Rs 1,669.51 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The number of Nepali workers taking first‑time approval for foreign employment stood at 367,211 in the review period, while approvals for renewed entry totalled 355,735. In the same period of the previous year, first‑time approvals were 452,324 and renewed entry approvals were 308,067.
