KATHMANDU: Five members have been appointed to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) through open competition.
Khum Bahadur Subedi, Santosh Pokharel, Shrijana KC, Pemba Sherpa and Dr Shobhita Shrestha Dhakal were appointed on Tuesday, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said.
The ministry said the appointments followed evaluation by a selection committee formed under the Tourism Act. The committee assessed applicants’ expertise, qualifications, contribution to tourism and leadership capacity.
A total of 1,100 people applied for the posts from across the country, the ministry added.
The open competition was adopted to ensure transparency in appointments and to support the promotion of tourism destinations, formulation of relevant tourism policy, attraction of investment and strengthening of public‑private partnership.
The ministry said the expertise and leadership of the newly appointed board members are expected to support sustainable development of tourism in Nepal.
