Cabinet decisions: Endorsement to agreement with loan sharking victims

KATHMANDU: The government has endorsed an agreement with victims of loan‑sharking and declared forged documents relating to loan‑sharking illegal.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held in Singh Durbar today decided to form a judicial probe committee into the self‑immolation of Ganesh Nepali. The committee will be coordinated by former High Court Judge Keshav Prasad Bastola, government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel said.

As per the government decision, Tulsipur High Court Judge Basudev Acharya will be appointed chairman of the special court, while Surkhet High Court Judge Dipendra Adhikari will be chairman of the Labour Court.

Shailesh Raj Kunwar has been appointed administrator of the Guthi Sansthan.

Minister Pokharel told the media that international flights will be provided with parking, landing, and navigation services free of charge, while ground handling will receive a 50% concession at the regional international airports in Pokhara and Bhairahawa. The decision, effective until mid‑September 2028, is aimed at international carriers.

The Cabinet also scrapped the equity tax on education and health under section 18(1) of the Finance Act, 2083.
