KATHMANDU: TikTok has introduced a search guide to help users in Nepal access verified, up-to-date information during the ongoing monsoon flood season.

The feature displays a banner for users searching flood-related content and directs them to credible sources. The guide links to BIPAD, Nepal’s national disaster information portal, TikTok’s Safety Center resources, and a Tragic Event Support guide that offers guidance for people affected by distressing events.

The Tragic Event Support resource outlines what qualifies as a tragic event, including natural disasters and personal loss, and provides information on accessing mental health support and on responsibly sharing or reporting related content.

TikTok said the launch is part of its wider effort to elevate credible information on the platform and limit the spread of misinformation during natural disasters by embedding resources directly into the user experience.

“We understand that in moments of crisis, information can be as vital as any other form of aid,” said Ferdous Mottakin, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, South Asia at TikTok. “That's why we are putting trusted information right where our community is already looking, so people can stay safe, stay calm, and stay informed when it matters most.”
