CHITWAN: Narayangadh-Muglin road section reopened for traffic after landslide debris near Muglin was cleared, police said.

The dry landslide occurred at Khahare Khola in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-5 at 8:30 am, Police Inspector Anil Thapa, chief of the District Traffic Police Office in Chitwan, said.

Two-way traffic resumed at 1:15 pm after the debris was cleared, he said. Earlier, at 11:15 am, the road had been opened for one-way traffic to allow ambulances and motorcycles to pass, he added.

Loaders, excavators and backhoes from Narayangadh, and a loader from Muglin, were deployed to clear the site, police said.

A dry landslide accompanied by rocks fell from a height of 40 metres at the site, police said. Vehicles that had been stranded on the road resumed their journeys towards their destinations after the clearance.
