KATHMANDU: Vehicular movement has been disrupted across several districts after landslides and floods triggered by heavy rains, Nepal Police said.
The police bulletin said some highways have been completely halted while other road sections face night-time restrictions. Movement has been stopped at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality-9 on the Jhapa–Taplejung stretch of Mechi Highway after rainfall made the road muddy.
The Araniko Highway has been blocked following landslides at Jirokilo and Kodari in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok district. The Lamosanghu–Ramechhap section has been inundated at Kirnetar in Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-5, Dolakha, forcing a closure.
Likewise, flooding in Trishuli River has led to a complete blockage of Pasang Lhamu Highway in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5 in Rasuwa district. A dry landslide in Bagmati Rural Municipality, Lalitpur, has disrupted traffic on the Kanti Highway, the police said.
The Jajarkot–Dolpa road section has also been blocked after flooding in the Mulpanikhola, according to the bulletin issued this morning. Authorities are monitoring conditions and working to clear affected routes.
