RSP organises Bagmati River Heritage Walk with MP Darshana in attendance

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 11 organised 'Bagmati River Heritage Walk' in the first week of July. Ranju Darshana, Member of the House of Representatives (HoR) for Kathmandu Constituency No. 1, attended the event.

Held under the slogan 'Bagmati is not just a river — it is a civilisation. Let us all tell its story', the walk attracted significant participation from residents of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Wards 10, 11, 12, 29 and 31. The event aimed to preserve, promote and safeguard the cultural, religious and historical heritage along the Bagmati River.

The walk began at 6:30 am from the Jagannath Temple premises at Teku Dobhan and proceeded through Teku Dobhan, Radha Krishna Temple, Teku Suspension Bridge, Lakshmeshwar Temple, Pachali Bhairav, the Nepal Folk Musical Instruments Museum, Teen Deval, Hanuman Ghat, Puret Ghat and Purneshwar Temple, before concluding at the Eye Hospital premises.

Heritage expert Bijay Lal Dangol provided insights into the religious, social, cultural and historical significance of various sites along the Bagmati Corridor. Local residents raised existing issues and challenges in the Bagmati River area with MP Darshana and discussed potential measures to address them.

A few weeks earlier, a separate heritage tour covering Chandra Ghat, Tripureshwor, Mahadev Shivalaya, Kalamochan and other sites was organised with local community participation, where HoR member Darshana attended as chief guest.
