Chaudhary Foundation begins 16th batch of 'LG Shipshikshya' programme

KATHMANDU: LG Electronics and the Chaudhary Foundation have launched the 16th batch of the 'LG Shipshikshya' programme in Nepal to train young workers in industry-relevant vocational and technical skills.

The initiative, designed to give back to society, aims to enhance employability, create sustainable livelihood opportunities and build a resilient workforce. Since its launch in 2024, the scheme has held 16 training batches and provided vocational education to 332 participants through its 'Polytechnic Programme' alongside 'Electrical and Mechanical Training'; the most recent batch comprises 18 participants.

To mark the start of the new session, Gerald Sungho Chun, Managing Director of LG Electronics' Singapore and Bangladesh branches, and Nirvana Chaudhary, Chairperson of Chaudhary Foundation, visited the trainees currently undergoing the programme.

Gerald Sungho Chun said, "Today, we are proud to take the next step in our partnership by focusing on youth empowerment and skills development. We want to thank Kathmandu Metropolitan City for partnering with us and supporting this meaningful initiative. Through this training session, I hope all the individuals present will be able to blossom in their careers and prove to society the difference education can make. Skills can be developed at any age and learning should never stop."

Nirvana Chaudhary said, "Chaudhary Foundation believes that empowering people with practical skills is one of the most meaningful investments we can make. In collaboration with LG Electronics, we wish to create more opportunities for people and hope to enhance the economy of the country by contributing to the increase in livelihoods. In the future, too, we plan to remain committed to helping build sustainable careers and enabling the workforce."
