KATHMANDU: Nepali consumers buying home appliances are shifting their priorities from the lowest price to long-term value, with quality, technology, energy efficiency, capacity, warranty and after-sales support now guiding purchase decisions, CG Digital said in a press release.

Until recently, buyers focused on a single question: "Which one is the cheapest?" The company said that today shoppers ask instead, "Which one is suitable for my family?", "How much electricity does it save?", "How long is the warranty?", and "Where can I get service if it breaks down?"

The trend is visible across 28 CG Digital and LG Brand Shops nationwide, where customers can compare multiple brands and models, test appliance usage and receive consultation tailored to household needs and budgets. CG Digital said its showrooms are evolving into advisory centres rather than simple sales outlets.

CG Digital’s network offers televisions, audio devices, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, air coolers, fans, microwave ovens, kitchen appliances, water purifiers, vacuum cleaners, small home appliances, mobile phones and smart devices. Brands available include LG, CG, TCL, Godrej, Midea, Crompton, Beko, Sensei, Kent, Elica, CG Meridia, Black+Decker, Goodmans and Burly, alongside mobile brands Nothing, Motorola and Ai+.

Having multiple brands under one roof allows customers to compare price, design, capacity, technology, energy efficiency and warranty to match specific lifestyles. CG Digital noted that appliance needs differ between a two-person household and a large family, or between households that wash clothes daily and those that do so weekly.

The press release cited a family of four in Kathmandu to illustrate the shift. After initially comparing online offers and social media deals, the family visited a showroom where sales consultants assessed actual household usage — family size, laundry frequency, kitchen space, food storage needs and future requirements — before considering budget. The family ultimately rejected the cheapest options in favour of products that reduce operating costs and promise greater durability.

CG Digital emphasised that the ownership experience begins at purchase and that long-term brand trust depends on correct installation, clear explanation of features, transparent warranty processes and accessible customer support. Under the CG Digital and CG Electronics service network, customers can register products, request service, locate service centres and track repair status. Authorised service centres provide repairs during the warranty period, and support is available through toll-free numbers and other contact channels.

As Nepali consumers increasingly seek accurate information, suitable products and dependable post-purchase service, the local electronics market is moving away from price-driven competition toward competition based on trust, customer experience and long-term service, the company said.
