KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Nepal in Oman organised an Export, Investment, Tourism and Employment promotion programme titled 'Business Interaction and Networking event' at Nepal House in Muscat, officials said.

The event aimed to share information on export opportunities from Nepal, investment avenues, and to build links between Nepali and Omani businesspersons. Chargé d'Affaires Bishesh Kumar Sah said Nepal has prioritised Oman as an important partner for exploring trade and investment opportunities and welcomed the first visit of a high-level delegation from Nepal. He outlined investment opportunities in Nepal, the investment process and institutional arrangements, and explained why Nepal is an attractive destination for Omani investors. He also expressed condolences on the untimely death of Nadhira Al Harthy, the first Omani woman to summit Mount Everest, and other mountaineers who died in a mountain avalanche, the embassy press release said.

Govinda Prasad Ghimire, president of Federation of Export Entrepreneurs Nepal (FEEN), spoke on Nepal’s export potential, listed products with comparative advantages and explained FEEN’s role in promoting the country’s export economy. Rabindra Shakya, president of the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN), highlighted Nepal’s traditional craftsmanship and presented a list of handicraft items with high trade potential in Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the statement added.

An array of Nepali products was displayed for participants. During the networking session, guests enquired about the products and expressed interest in exploring business possibilities. The trade delegation engaged with attendees to establish contacts for potential future ventures.

A dinner featuring the Nepali dish momo was served. The event was compered by Usha Adhikari, Third Secretary.

The high-level trade delegation arrived in Muscat on August 3. The embassy organised a B2B interaction with Lulu Hypermarket on August 4. More than 70 people attended the event, including members of the trade delegation, CEOs, directors, managers and representatives of Omani business houses and hypermarkets, media personnel and Nepali businesspeople, the press release said.
