KATHMANDU: A total of 41 disaster incidents occurred across various districts from 10:00 am on August 8 to 10:00 am on August 9, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) said, leaving 20 people injured.
During the 24 hours, the authority reported 20 snakebite incidents, nine fires, eight landslides, one lightning strike, two incidents of heavy rainfall and one wildlife attack. Police deployed 173 personnel to assist at the scenes.
All 20 injuries were from snakebites, the NDRRMA said. The incidents caused estimated damage of Rs 3,847,500, blocked roads at four locations and resulted in the death of one head of livestock.
Separately, the authority said that from April 14 to August 9, a total of 4,452 disaster incidents were recorded nationwide. Those events left 205 people dead, five missing, 1,347 injured and affected 5,492 families.
