Youths in Chitwan call for technology and entrepreneurship to create jobs

CHITWAN: Young people in Chitwan district urged greater emphasis on technology, entrepreneurship and job creation during a dialogue held on International Youth Day on Wednesday.

Organised by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chitwan district committee, the programme featured sessions on 'Politics of My Generation', 'Agriculture Entrepreneurship and Youth' and 'Youth Dialogue with Parliamentarian'. Participants argued that politics without entrepreneurship would not advance the nation’s prosperity and demanded a results‑oriented, technology‑friendly and enterprise‑based political culture rather than mere rhetoric.

Speakers and attendees said Nepal must reduce heavy reliance on remittances by promoting entrepreneurship and generating employment domestically. A panel discussion, moderated by journalist Bibek Pokharel, included agriculturist Dr Bhaneshwor Pokhrel and entrepreneurs Subas Paudel and Sujata Devkota. They emphasised the need for modern technology, research and market management to develop agriculture as a viable business and to attract educated and skilled workers into agricultural enterprises.

Hari Dhakal, chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR), urged young people to learn from mistakes as they move forward in their work. Lawmaker Prabha Dhakal said local levels should be held accountable for agricultural development.
