Government committed to meeting basic needs: Finance minister

DAMAULI, TANAHUN: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has said the government is committed to meeting the basic needs of the people and is working to address local demands despite limited resources.

Speaking at a meeting with voters in Dumsi, Ward 10 of Byas Municipality, Tanahun, the minister acknowledged budget constraints but said the government is trying its best to respond to community expectations. “There are limits to the budget, the amount of money is small. The expectations of the people are many. In every settlement, people demand drinking water, roads, schools, health posts, embankments, and playgrounds, and the government is trying its best to address them,” he said.

Finance Minister Dr Wagle said he is committed to the development of Tanahun and that efforts have been made to ensure fairness in this year’s budget distribution. He recalled that voters in Tanahun had elected him twice to the House of Representatives and said he felt greatly indebted to them.

The minister added that he would hold discussions with the relevant ministry about drinking water and embankments in Dumsi and that work would proceed accordingly. Local residents told Wagle that about 500 households in Dumsi are facing a shortage of drinking water.
