KATHMANDU: Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has said tourism is the backbone of the country’s economy.
Inaugurating the 59th annual general meeting (AGM) of Nepal Association for Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) in Kathmandu, he called for the active engagement of all concerned parties to advance the sector that earns foreign exchange.
He urged the government to take serious steps to resolve policy and structural problems affecting tourism and asked professional organisations such as NATTA to help expand the industry to its full potential.
He said the national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines, and the Nepal Tourism Board must make honest efforts to strengthen the sector, which he reiterated serves as the economic backbone of the country.
