IRGDD president discusses trade, economic diplomacy with Industry minister
KATHMANDU: Ambassador Dr Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, president of International Relations & Global Diplomacy Dialogue (IRGDD) and Ambassadors’ Club Nepal, paid a courtesy call on Gauri Kumari Yadav, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, on Friday. They discussed measures to strengthen Nepal’s economy through people‑centred economic diplomacy and international partnerships.
The meeting focused on strategies including Track 1.5 and Track 2 diplomatic engagement, with particular attention to tackling Nepal’s persistent trade imbalance and improving the country’s international economic standing.
Dr Parajuli Dhakal said IRGDD, Ambassadors’ Club Nepal and Diplomat Nepal act as platforms to connect Nepal with diplomatic missions, international institutions, experts, businesses and investors, while enhancing the nation’s soft power and international visibility. She added that IRGDD will provide evidence‑based policy research and strategic recommendations, and will run Track 1.5 diplomacy platforms that bring together government, diplomats, academia, the private sector and international stakeholders in support of Nepal’s national economic interests.
Bimal Dhakal, co‑founder of IRGDD, and officials from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies attended the meeting.
Those present agreed on the need for sustained dialogue and collaboration to advance Nepal’s trade, economic connectivity, investment and wider international partnerships.
