KAVREPALANCHOK: The Dhulikhel-Dapcha stretch of the BP Highway will be widened, Road Division Bhaktapur said.
The division plans to expand the existing carriageway from 5.5 metres to 10 metres and surface it with blacktop. The section is about 20 kilometres long.
Senior divisional engineer Suman Yogesh said a detailed project report (DPR) has been prepared and a preliminary environmental assessment report is underway. The expansion is estimated to cost Rs 3.79 billion.
Compensation for land on either side of the road, covering 15 metres, has already been distributed to enable the widening.
